The 2013 Winmau World Masters took place over the weekend
of 11th-13th October, with the top players from the BDO
circuit heading to City Hall, Hull for three days of top quality
darting action.
First Round
After the early stages on Thursday, where 256 players from around
the World compete to become one of the sixteen players joining the
sixteen seeds in the last 32, the stage action got underway on Friday
with defending champion Stephen Bunting producing a 3-0 victory over
John Michael of Greece.

“Following Board level discussions the BDO would like to apologise for
not issuing a statement sooner but a thorough investigation needed to
be conducted. This has now concluded and the Board have agreed that
a full review of tournament match play rules will be undertaken.”
Tournament director Wayne Williams also added, “This was a rare and
genuine mistake however the incident has highlighted a contradiction
in the rules which will be addressed as a matter of urgency.”
Jan Dekker faced a tough clash with Tony Eccles, but the seeded
Dutchman edged out his opponent 3-2 in a tense deciding set, with
Eccles perhaps feeling slightly unlucky not to have secured the victory
himself.
Fourth seed Darryl Fitton showed fine form as he produced a 3-0
demolition of fellow Englishman Nigel Lamb.
Wesley Harms, who defeated David Neads of Wales 3-0, Remco van
Eijden, who overcame Ron Meulenkamp and Glen Durrant, who
