World Grand Prix Photo: PDC/Lawrence Lustig took me a while to get into the game,” admitted Chisnall. “I knew that I had to improve and I did that.” “The 112 finish to win the third set was important, and for me it was the shot of the match. If I’d missed it, it would have been two-all in the third set but the bullseye was great and it was an important set to win.” “I played well in the last two sets and I was hitting my starting doubles well. I’m looking forward to playing Michael and we’ve had a lot of great matches before.” Adrian Lewis was dumped out of the competition at the second round stage by an in form Justin Pipe who dropped only three legs in an impeccable performance. Pipe won the opening set of the match 3-1, before a burst of power scoring and clinical finishing saw him take the second set without reply. Lewis dug in during the third set and indeed led it 2-1 before Pipe claimed two straight legs to seal his 3-0 victory. “Our starting was pretty equal but my finishing was the difference. The 94 and 102 to win the last two sets were killer shots, especially the 94 to go 2-0 up.” Michael van Gerwen continued his title defence at pace with a thrilling demolition job on fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld. Barney fought hard to hang on during the early stages of the match, but in the end van Gerwen’s assault began to tell and he ran out a comfortable 3-0 winner. “That’s a great win for me,” said van Gerwen. “To beat Raymond in this tournament is not easy and this will give me a lot of confidence because I played well.” “I hit the right scores at the right moments and some big finishes - I think the 148 was very important and it hurt his confidence.” “I was a bit nervous before this game but it wasn’t about beating Raymond, it’s also about winning the game, surviving in this tournament and hopefully winning the tournament again.” “I need to start with my doubles a bit better on Friday night but I was scoring well and hitting my finishes well.” Dave Chisnall’s excellent run of form continued, although a resurgent Wayne Jones was able to take the match to push him hard. In fact Jones took the opening set before Chisnall found his stride to move in front at 2-1. In the fourth set Jones fought hard to keep the match alive, but in the end some good doubling from Chisnall saw him secure a 3-1 victory. “I’m very happy with how I came back after that first set because it “I’m very happy with how I came back after that first set because it took me a while to get into the game” Dave Chisnall “I’m absolutely delighted to be in the quarter-finals again,” said Pipe. “It’s a fantastic result and I’m really please ???????????????????t+?q??????????e??????????????'?e????????????????????)???$?????????????????????????????????????????????)????$????????????????????????????????????t+?q'?e????????????????????????????????????????)'?e??????????????!????????$???????????????????????????????????????????t)%?????????????????????????????????????!??????????????????)???????????????????????????????????????????????M????????)????????e???????????????????????????????)???????)!???????e???????????????-????A???????????????????????)????????????????????????????????????????????????!??????)??????????+?q$??????????????????????????????????????????????????????)??$????????????????e???????????????????????????????????t????)!???????+?q$??????????????????$?????????????????????????????????????)???????-?????????????????????????????????$??????????????????)?????????????????????$????????????????????????????????????)????????????????????$??????????????????????$??????????????t+?q'?e????????????'?e?????????????????????e?????????????e???)????????$?????e?????????????????????????????e????'?e?????)??????t(+?q$??????????)?????????????)???????????(??????????)?????????????$)???????????????e?)???????????????)?????????????)???t)????!??????((0
