England Classic
Glen Durrant went a long way towards securing a seeding at the 2014 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships with victory in the England Classic on 15th September. The Cleveland based thrower secured a quarter final victory over Stephen Bunting, before moving on to secure his spot in the final with a 5-3 victory over Robbie Green.
In the final Durrant met James Wilson and despite the Yorkshireman averaging over 99 he was able to hold his nerve to secure victory in the eleventh and deciding leg. The ladies event was won by Deta Hedman, who overcame Trina Gulliver 4-3 in another tight final, having previously secured a semi-final victory over Zoe Jones. The mixed triples title was claimed by Dee Bateman, Wesley Harms and Jim Williams, whilst Trina Gulliver and Lisa Ashton claimed the Ladies pairs. Tony O’Shea and Jerry Hendriks secured the Mens pairs, whilst Josh McCarthy claimed the Youth title.
