Taylor’s Triumph The 2013 BetVictor World Matchplay will go down in history as one of the great PDC tournaments. Records were broken, career best performances achieved and a whole host of top professional players left their mark on the event. Across the whole field the standard was excellent, and although Phil Taylor did eventually take the title, and it was the top four from the PDC Order of Merit who contested the semis there were a number of impressive performances from the likes of Dave Chisnall, Jamie Caven and Ian White at various stages of the tournament that only served to highlight the current standard of the professional players in the PDC. Andy Hamilton continued his impeccable run of reaching at least the quarter finals of major tournaments, indeed the run has now lasted over twelve months, Michael van Gerwen again impressed and there was a continued resurgence from Adrian Lewis. In fact there were so many impressive performances across the whole field that it would be impossible to mention them all here. ‘The Power’ Claims 14th Matchplay Title
