‘ The Power ’ Claims His Fifth Crown

On Thursday 6th June 2013 the darting world once again descended on the Reebok Stadium in Bolton for the UK Open . The event , known as the ‘ FA Cup of Darts ’ is always one of the most hotly contested on the calendar and pits the elite of the PDC circuit against a select group of amateur qualifiers .
It was with great anticipation then that we headed to Bolton ourselves to bring you blow-by-blow coverage of this years tournament . In fact the UK Open is the closest event on the darting calendar to our home base in Lancashire and with many of the qualifiers from our area it was going to be an exciting time for us not only as reporters but also as darts fans . And so without further ado time for some darts action ...
Preliminary Round
James Wade ’ s comparatively lowly qualifying position ensured that he would enter the tournament at it ’ s earliest possible stage as he faced off against the BDO ’ s Robbie Green , a man with some history at the event . On the night though a potentially tough match proved to be easier than Wade could have imagined as three 180s helped him to a 5-2 win .
