European Darts Open Peter Wright who both enjoyed 6-1 wins over Ryan de Vreede and Michael Smith respectively, whilst Gary Anderson overcame Gerwyn Price 6-3. Robert Thornton was the only other seed to bow out in the second round as Andy Smith produced some excellent darts to complete a 6-4 victory over the Scotsman, before Michael van Gerwen became the last man to reach the last 16 as he overcame Mark Dudbridge 6-2. Third Round Peter Wright continued his good run as he overcame Justin Pipe 6-2, with his reward for victory being a quarter final clash with Andy Hamilton as the Stoke-based thrower ended the spirited challenge of Andy Smith. Dave Chisnall needed a deciding leg to overcome Mervyn King as he set up a quarter final clash with Simon Whitlock who had earlier defeated Brendan Dolan 6-2. James Wade continued to show signs of his recently improved form as he overcame Adrian Lewis 6-4, whilst Gary Anderson overcame Wes Newton 6-3 to set up a quarter final clash with Wade. Kevin Painter and Jamie Caven completed the quarter final line-up as they defeated Kim Huybrechts and Michael van Gerwen respectively. Quarter Finals Simon Whitlock and Dave Chisnall shared a very even six opening legs in their quarter final encounter. Whitlock was able to edge in front for the third time at 4-3 and when he then broke the Chisnall throw in the next leg it proved to be decisive as he went on to secure a 6-3 victory. Gary Anderson and James Wade played out a thriller that went to-and-fro throughout. Wade led 2-1 early on, only for Anderson to win the next two legs as the lead switched hands. The next two legs were shared before Anderson broke throw, only for Wade to land an immediate break back, although Anderson was able to hold on to his slender lead as he claimed a 6-5 victory. Peter Wright landed a 13-darter to open his account as he took on Andy Hamilton and his confident start had soon developed into a 4-0 lead.
