“I love Gibraltar and I always look forward to playing here,” said Lewis.
“Robert didn’t play badly but I didn’t leave him much.
“I scored heavily and got the job done, and I think I’ve got a great
chance now. I’m building up to the World Matchplay at the moment and
the hard work I’ve been putting in during practice is showing on stage.”
Meanwhile, young ace Adam Hunt continued his good run with a 6-5
victory over Dave Chisnall, the qualifier reached a European Tour
quarter final for the first time, where he was joined by Simon Whitlock
who defeated Brendan Dolan 6-3.
Michael Smith’s good run continued as he overcame Jamie Caven 6-3,
although Benito van de Pas’ came to an end at the hands of James
Wade as the Aldershot thrower sealed a 6-5 victory.
There was also a big success for Gary Anderson, with the Scotsman
enjoying a 6-1 win over Justin Pipe, as well as for Kim Huybrechts, who
defeated Ian White 6-4.
The quarter final line-up was completed by Steve Beaton, with the
former World Champion narrowly defeating Johnny Haines 6-5.

Quarter Finals
Adam Hunt was enjoying his best run in a European Tour event, but it
was to end abruptly as the Sunday evening session got underway. The
youth ace fell victim to an impressive Simon Whitlock, with the Aussie
wrapping up a 6-2 victory.
In the second of the night’s quarter finals continued to enjoy European
Tour success as he ended the challenge of an in form Gary Anderson.
The former World Champion needed all eleven legs as he secured a 6-5
win in what proved to be a real thriller.
Michael Smith’s hugely impressive run continued as he added another
top sixteen victim to his list for the weekend. This time it was Adrian
Lewis who fell victim to the St Helens’ based thrower by a scoreline of
six legs to three.
The semi-final line-up was completed by a resurgent James Wade,
the seven-time major winner hitting top gear as he powered past Kim
Huybrechts 6-4.
Semi-Finals
Steve Beaton produced a fine fightback to secure his place in the final
with a 6-4 defeat of Simon Whitlock.
Whitlock hit a 180 as he took the opening leg, only for Beaton to finish
60, 96 and double nine to take a 3-1 lead, but the Australian edged
the fifth, took out 121 on the bull in the sixth and traded 180s with his
opponent before landing tops for a 4-3 cushion.
Beaton finished 116 to level and tops to move back ahead, before
