Gibraltar Darts Trophy
A host of PDC stars jetted off to spend the weekend of 27th29th of June in sunnier climes as the PDC’s European Tour
returned to Gibraltar for the second running of the Gibraltar
Darts Trophy.
There were top stars aplenty for the Victoria Stadium crowd to enjoy,
but when all was said and done it was a resurgent James Wade who
lifted the trophy, his first in over two and a half years.

Wade got his campaign off to the best possible start with a 6-3 victory
over rising star Gino Vos and he was joined in the second round by one
of the host nation qualifiers in the form of Dyson Parody who overcame
Henry Zapata 6-0
“It means the world to me to have won on stage here in Gibraltar,” said
Parody. “It’s great to win 6-0 and my finishes were brilliant all the way
through the game.
“I’ve been putting the practice in and it showed, and hopefully I can
keep this going tomorrow because I’ll be out to get Gary! [Anderson]”
Michael Smith also impressed as he defeated Andy Smith 6-5 in what
was perhaps the tie of the round. Smith’s reward was to be a second
round clash with Phil Taylor, whom he defeated in the second round of
this years World Championships.
“It was a tight match and while it wasn’t pretty, it was a win and it’s
my first win on stage here in Gibraltar,” said Smith.
