UK Darts Issue 14 - May 2014 | Page 3

Editors Intro... First of all my congratulations to Raymond van Barneveld on becoming the 2014 Betway Premier League of Darts Champion. The Dutchman defied a woeful semi-final record to overcome Phil Taylor for the first time in twenty one Premier League meetings, before showing us all that class is permanent as he defeated Michael van Gerwen to lift the trophy. Barney was not alone in celebrating in the O2. Keegan Brown became PDC Unicorn Youth World Champion on the same night and we have full reports inside from all of the action in both tournaments. We also talk to Peter Wright following an impressive eighteen months, we learn about some good news for ladies darts, pour admiration on some brave souls who took to the oche for 24 hours in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and I have a confession to make too. (More about this later in the mag). On top of all of this we have our usual round-ups of everything from the BDO and PDC, with notable wins for Phil Taylor and Martin Adams as well as the introduction of a new tournament to the BDO calendar. Finally we look ahead to the PDC World Cup which takes place in Hamburg from June 6th-8th and will feature 32 teams from around the globe for the first time. It has been a privilege for us all to put this magazine together, and we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we have enjoyed writing it.
