BDO Dutch Open Photo: Mike Glover/UK Darts Magazine Ross Montgomery claimed victory in the Dutch Open, although there was some controversy in his deciding leg victory over Scott Waites in the final. Montgomery and Waites had traded blow for blow throughout the match, but when Ross landed the winning double there were some questions as to his and the referee’s maths. In the end though the result stood and Montgomery completed the perfect preparation for the World Trophy as he took the first floor event of 2014 in style. In the ladies tournament Aileen de Graaf overcame Anastasia Dobromyslova to clinch victory despite being nearly six months pregnant. Meanwhile there were also wins for Scott Mitchell and Richie George, who claimed the mens’ pairs tournament, and Anastasia Dobromyslova and Lorraine Winstanley who claimed the ladies pairs. The Dutch also continue to produce some great young talent, and it was Mike van Duivenboden who secured victory in the juniors tournament, although Sharon Jansen could only finish second to Michelle Lindhardt of Denmark in the girls event.
