Peter Wright
Wright
had
a
fantastic
World
Championships, and whilst he eventually
lost out to van Gerwen in the final he
can come away head held high after a
job well done. Now up to seventh in the
Order of Merit, Wright is the shortest
priced of the debutants at 16/1.
A fans favourite thanks to his outlandish
hair and a rather colourful dress sense,
Wright will have great support behind
him. Having shown at the World’s that
he likes a bit of crowd noise this can
only be of benefit to ‘Snakebite’, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was
there or there about come finals day.
Wes Newton
Newton is the tournament outsider at
50/1, and having been relegated during
his first Premier League campaign this is
understandable.
The Fleetwood-based thrower has had
a solid year without being spectacular.
He does however still find himself in
the World’s top eight heading into the
tournament and will be looking for an
improvement this year, having gained
valuable experience during last years
campaign.
Robert Thornton
Thornton acquitted himself
well during last years
campaign,
avoiding
relegation without
too much difficulty
and remaining in
the playoff race
until the last
couple of weeks
of the league
phase.
At 33/1 he doesn’t
seem to represent much value, but this being
said he will no doubt pick up some good results on
the way and as a former major winner with a years
Premier League experience under his belt he will always
remain an outside threat.
