wounded Taylor has a habit of fighting back with avengeance, so watch
out for him in the later stages of the tournament and do not be at all
surprised if he regains his crown at the O2 in May. Odds of 2/1 may
represent some of the best value you will ever get for backing Taylor
Simon Whitlock
Whitlock
had
a
good
World
Championships, reaching the semifinals, and as a result he has overtaken
Adrian Lewis as World Number 3. This
has not been enough for him to curry
favour with the bookmakers however
and the bearded Aussie heads into the
tournament at 16/1
In the end Whitlock should be there or
there abouts come playoff time, don’t
be surprised to see him making the top
four, especially with the absence of
regular top four contender James Wade.
Dave Chisnall
Chisnall suffered a first round exit at
the World Championships, but due to
the two-year rolling system for the
Order of Merit he finds himself fifth
in the World heading into his debut
Premier League campaign.
At 33/1 I wouldn’t expect Chisnall to
be challenging for the top four, but
having said that he has scoring power
that many would love to emulate and
if he can get his doubles right and
hold his nerve in the big arenas he will
cause a few upsets along the way.
Adrian Lewis
Lewis may have lost his third place in the Order of Merit to Whitlock, but
he still reached the semi-finals of the World Championships and threw
darts that could have won him a major on more than one occasion last
year had it not been for some incredible performances from Phil Taylor,
most notably in the World Matchplay final.
At 9/2 Lewis represents good value, he is overdue a major win and has
been back to his brilliant best over recent months. Expect ‘Jackpot’
to reach the semi-finals and don’t be surprised to see him lifting the
trophy at the O2 in May.
