The Dart Lab... The Dart L
Winmau Blade 4 Dual Core
The more observant of you may well have
noticed a subtle change in the dartboards used
for this years Lakeside World Championships.
Whilst they still bore the name Winmau Blade
4 there was the addition of the Dual Core logo.
We all know that the Blade 4 is an excellent quality
dartboard, and it is no secret that Winmau are one
of the World’s leading manufacturers of boards, but
just what is the difference between the old and new
versions of the Blade 4?
We decided to find out and in the first of a new
series testing some of the hottest products in darts
we thought we would tell you, our readers, all about
it too…
The Blade 4 Dual Core may only be subtly different
at first glance, but the concept behind it is
revolutionary. The board features, as you may well
have worked out, two cores, but just what does this
mean? Well over to Winmau themselves to tell us.
“The Blade 4 Dual Core dartboard reaffirms Winmau’s
pioneering role in the field of dartboard innovation
taking our values of design, craftsmanship and
engineering excellence to another level.”
“The
Dual
Core
technology
achieves
lower
compression at the outer core which reduces
surface resistance and increases point penetration
for fewer lost darts and higher scores. Higher
compression at the inner core increases resistance
below the surface, absorbing excess kinetic energy
for improved durability.”
“The pure sisal outer core has an uncompromised
playing surface for perfect vision, increased scoring
potential and easier alignment. The Rota-Lock
system featured in this dartboard utilises triple
wheel locators to allow the dartboard to be fitted
to virtually any surface in a matter of minutes for a
secure fit and easy rotation.”
But what does all of this science and technology
relate to in real terms I hear you ask.
Well firstly the seamless playing surface is certainly
more pleasurable to look at and with less distractions
as you throw the dart, the Dual Core is not the first
board to feature this and it won’t be the last. Why?
Well because it is a great idea and a big plus for the
board over the original Blade 4.
The Rota-Lock system is one of those rare pieces
of design that is so elegant in it’s simplicity yet so
effective at it’s job. You can now hang your board
securely to any surface, even one that is slightly off
