Premier League Preview The Echo Arena in Liverpool will be the venue for the start of this years Premier League, when on 6th February 10 of the World’s top dart players begin their tour of the UK and Ireland’s arenas in a bid to be crowned 2014 McCoys Premier League champion. Newly crowned World Champion Michael van Gerwen will be out to defend his title, but will no doubt face stiff competition from Phil Taylor, who is licking his wounds after a poor end to 2013, Adrian Lewis, who is showing form worthy of winning a major, and a host of other in form players in what could prove to be the most exciting Premier League yet. The Format The format for 2014 remains unchanged from last years event, with players playing 12 leg matches, which come to an end once one player reaches seven legs or at 6-6. The bottom two in the league face relegation after the players have played each other once each. The cutoff point remains week 9 and every players first goal will be to stay out of the bottom two and be in with a chance of pushing for the playoffs. After relegation there are a further six weeks of league matches, during which the remaining players will all face each other once more, before the top four head to the O2 Arena in London on 22nd May to contest the semi-finals and final.
