The tournament is also due to be broadcast across the UK and Europe by Eurosport and has been widely welcomed by fans and players alike. There will also be a whole host of former Lakeside semi-finalists Scott Waites has said of the tournament: “A new event on the world stage is just what we need. For me it’s as much about playing darts with my mates on a Monday night and having a laugh, as the razzmatazz of the big tournaments.” “But I’m walking taller since winning the BDO World’s and I’m very proud of that title. I’ve really turned it up a notch this year. It’s time for a new era of darts and this major new tournament will spice things up at the top in a really unique venue.” A Top Class Field The stars of the BDO will be out in force for the tournament with 2014 Lakeside Champion Stephen Bunting being joined by former winners Scott Waites and A Unique Tournament The World Trophy will also be unique amongst the BDO majors in allowing any dart player, who is not affiliated to the PDC, to enter, with the first two days of the tournament being taken up by qualifying events with four men and four ladies coming through to take their places in the TV stages. Along with the qualifiers there will be top players from around the world. The regional qualifiers have already taken place and players like the USA’s Jim Widmayer are making preparations to descend on Blackpool. including Wesley Harms, Jan Dekker and Robbie Green, whilst this years runner-up Alan Norris will be looking to come through the qualifiers to take his place in the main field. In the ladies draw 2014 Lakeside Champion Lisa Ashton has received a wildcard and she will be joined by former World Championship winners Anastasia Dobromyslova and Trina Gulliver along with World Number 1 Deta Hedman.
