UK Darts Issue 10 - January 2014 | Page 3

Editors Intro... Well what a month it has been! We have seen three World Championships, been shocked by moves across the darting divide in both directions and wholly entertained by 128 dart players from two genders and two codes. It has been non-stop for the UK Darts team and even more so for me personally. My highlight was being at Lakeside to witness the crowning of a great friend Stephen Bunting as BDO World Champion. I have had the pleasure of competing with Stephen, his close friends and family in pub and Super League teams both together and as opponents and it came as no surprise to me to see him crowned a World Champion. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him again on a fantastic achievement and also to congratulate the PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen, if ever there were two men destined for great things from an early age then surely these two were they. Of course this magazine is not only about reflection on what happened during the two World Championships, we are also looking forward to the McCoys Premier League and the new Daily Mirror World Trophy and we have full previews of both to compliment our coverage of the Worlds. Looking even further ahead our new writer Martin Smith has picked out five youngsters to watch during 2014, including Ricky Evans who we must extend our gratitude to, along with John Archer from Nevada Sports, for wearing our patch at the World Championships. Ricky was not obliged to do so and it was a very pleasant surprise to see it on his shirt at the Ally Pally. I have also spent some of my limited free time this month testing out the new Blade 4 Dual Core which made its UK TV debut at Lakeside, you can read my full review inside but let me say it is a superb dartboard.
