district . To achieve durability , the team experimented with a range of surface materials and settled on a rubberised compound , traditionally used in sports halls , for the stage .
For the opening ceremony , Stage One ’ s Qmotion automation software hoisted a giant LED planet into position by nine winches and was revealed by 28 automated hinged traps in the stage . With the stage nestled under the world ’ s largest 360-degree dome , and with its 252 projectors , the team had to be mindful when connecting the rigging to not interfere with or impact on the projection paths .
Stage One provided around-the-clock expertise and operation . The team made on-going adjustments to the build to accommodate changes and tweaked cues and automation motion paths as things progressed in order to meet the show ’ s developing creative requirements .
