The Coaching Behaviours Framework provides organisations with the ability to understand and develop the type of workforce they need to effectively coach the participants they want to reach. This in turn increases the quality of coaching experiences, enabling organisations to bring Great Coaching to a more diverse audience. Through the launch of the framework, and using animations and infographics, we created a vivid picture of what Great Coaching looks like through the eyes of the participant. Swim England’s Story Swim England approached UK Coaching to ask for the best way to recruit coaches for their well-being programme. Using the power of the Coaching Behaviours Framework, we worked with them to look at their approach to coach recruitment. The results were so positive, they are now advocating the same approach – when it comes to recruiting and selecting a coaching workforce for their projects – with their delivery partners. “The Swim England Water Well-being programme has been developed to support coaches to address all the barriers of access Transforming Coach Recruitment for people with long-term health conditions or impairments, including how the workforce is prepared to receive and best understand the needs and motivations of the individual. “Applying the UK Coaching Workforce Principles helped us identify the need to develop inclusive customer experience training aimed at all front-line staff. “The support from UK Coaching, in further developing our understanding of effective coaching behaviours, has helped us to reframe and identify opportunities to support the development of the aquatic workforce, ensuring a high-quality customer experience, and ensuring a great customer journey from car park to reception to poolside.” Swim England’s Head of Health and Well-being, Elaine McNish 21
