thanks to Keith Allen of Tabac World, to discuss
the possibilities of launching Diamond Crown
cigars here in the UK. A positive result and
another new range of cigars are on their way to
Mysmokingshop. After a brief lunch I decided
to hit the show floor, I was so impressed by
the work that had been put in by some of the
manufacturers, Gurkha, Oliva, Alec Bradley and
Padron. But the most amazing with its staircase
and mezzanine floor was Drew Estate. Next on the
list was to find the Cigar Perforator team, to meet
them in person as Mysmokingshop is their only
European outlet for their Perfdog cigar perforator.
Day three, and my last day at the show, I only had
a couple more booths to visit, looking more at the
pipe smoking side of our business I had a planned
visit to the St. James Parish Perique factory.
During a wonderful tour and talk about the history
and making of Perique by Mark Ryan of Daughters
and Ryan, I also happened to stumble across
another exciting product which I sampled, the
1881 Perique cigar, we may see this soon but with
Perique being a very premium product due to its
lengthy manufacturing process, pricing may be its
issue here in the UK.
On reflection IPCPR was a great adventure, a great
to see forthcoming products like the Alec Bradley
2016 Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole, the Padron
Damaso (the first time they have created a mild
Connecticut wrappered cigar), the Oliva Melanio
Cigar Humidor and especially the Joya de
Nicaragua Caminetto Series cigars.
But I can’t relax yet, my next stop is Dortmund”.
