Romeo y Julieta Cazadorez Vitola - Cazadores (6 3/8” x 44 Ring Gauge) It could be argued that Romeo y Julieta has been left to wither since the millennium. Once the flagship of Cuba, brands such as Cohiba, Partagas and Montecristo seemingly have left Romeo in the background. Recent production has shown a renewed passion once again being put into the brand and hopefully it will recover it's once great reputation. One cigar that has not missed a step throughout the dark times is the Romeo y Julieta Cazadorez. Part of the Lonsdale family, at 43 x 162 this cigar is uniquely 'wet-packed' in foil. Left to marinate in it's heady aromatic oils these strongly blended cigars hark back to the old powerhouse days of Cuban cigars. With thick almost chewy smoke, a full frontal assault faces you; big meaty flavours of leather, pungent stewed fruits and if you are lucky dark, dark chocolate. These are not cigars of refinement, if you want to have a taste of how Churchill's favoured cigars might have been like then grab a handful and prepare yourself. Sancho Panza Belicosos Vitola - Campana (5 1/2” x 52 Ring Gauge) Winding up this selection comes a cigar that would not be out of place in any modern up-market chocolatier. Being the same size as the famous Bolivar Belicosos Finos (52 x 140), this cigar may contain flavours that you have not come across so far in the world of Cuban cigars. Blended with leaf grown by the sea Sancho Panza has the unique attribute of having a salty nature. Possibly offputting at first glance, lighting up one of these cigars will swiftly change your initial thoughts. Raw dark chocolate and a dry cedar nuttiness is balanced out perfectly by the subtle salty undertone. Certainly not a full bodied cigar the Belicosos is perfectly suited to a midday relaxation session. If you have found yourself reaching for the salted caramel ice cream and desserts recently, you owe it to yourself to taste this flavourful and refreshing smoke. The world of Habanos is constantly evolving and filled with new and exciting releases, however if you take a sidestep and dip into the quiet corners of a cigar store you may just find that perfect little box which has been patiently waiting for you, full of quiet confidence that it is going to show you something that it's younger Brothers and Sisters have not yet learnt. 28
