MY MOST MEMORABLE CIGARS By Adam Lajca I started my journey with cigars on my first visit to Cuba in 2006. From that moment I knew there was no way back for me. Recently I passed the Hunters & Frankau Master of Havana Cigars exam. As I work in the hospitality industry the exam has been a huge help and has taught me so much more about cigars. Cigar One: La Gloria Cubana 25 Aniversario LCDH Cigar Two: Montecristo 80 Aniversario Where & When? During La Casa del Habano 25 Anniversary diner in Havana. Where & when? Hotel Melia Buenavista in Cayo Santa Maria Cuba Why was it memorable? It was amazing evening full of entertainment music people and great cigars, La Gloria Cubana is one of my favourite brands and not so popular like others global brands among cigar smokers. I paired cigar with new rum from Havana Club called Union, it was perfect marriage. Cigar had perfect draw and develop beautifully towards the end, smooth sweetness of rum complement cigar very well. I had also great pleasure to meet some great people that evening, I could share my passion and experience with. Why was it memorable? I knew I have to pick good moment with plenty of time for that cigar, great opportunity strike when I stay at Melia Buenavista on beautiful Cayo Santa Maria island. I lit the cigar and enjoy the sunset in perfect surroundings of the island listening to live performer playing saxophone. Cigar develop flavours slowly in very enjoyable way, I can’t wait for general release of this cigar. Cigar was paired with Santiago 20 years, I have to say Montecristo 80 and Santiago 20 together it was like fine dining meal. 26
