WHAT’S IN YOUR HUMIDOR?
UK Cigar stores have a proud heritage of aging cigars for their customers so that they can enjoy the
subtle and refined pleasures of an aged cigar.
In this monthly feature we will ask a cigar specialist, either a store or a cigar terrace, to tell us about two
of the rare, aged cigars which they have available.
For this first edition we called up our friends at Havana House in Windsor. They have been aging cigars
for their discerning customers for many years and they always have something interesting on offer.
Vijay from the store describes the
two cigars he selected for us:
“These two were both chosen as they were rolled before the 'cigar boom'. As many believe these older
cigars were of higher quality as demand was significantly lower, we decided to age these and they are
now ready and available for our customers to buy”.
Cigar 1
Hoyo De Monterrey
Double Corona 1998
cabinet box of 50
“This cigar is a favourite of all the staff, as soon
as we opened this box we immediately knew they
would be great cigars to age. The smooth flavours
of these light Havanas improve over time and after
sampling them recently we believe the wait has
been well worth it.”
Cigar 2
Partagas Lusitania
1998 cabinet 50
“We put these cigars away 17 years ago and we
have been looking forward to the traditionally
fuller flavour of this Partagas which has mellowed
with age. Smoking this cigar demonstrates
real complexity. It has proved to have aged
wonderfully.”
Both have been aged in cabinets, we chose these
as we think the cigars will age that much better
rather than in a flat box as they are kept together
in a bundle so the leaves can absorb the flavours
from the other cigars around them.
