The Cigar Smoker of the Year Awards
at Boisdale Canary Wharf
Once again, and in their won totally unique style, Boisdale celebrated the Cigar Smoker of
the Year Awards, this year sponsored by Snow Queen Vodka at Canary Wharf on the 1st of
December..
The evening was a who’s who of the Cigar World
and the evening was hosted by Ranald Mcdonald
and the evenings awards were announced by Tom
Parker Bowles.
The key award of the evening, The Snow Queen
Cigar Smoker of the Year was awarded to Jonathan
Ross who positively sprinted to the stage and
accepted his award. Heading to the stage right
after him and in a slightly more sedate fashion
was real Hollywood royalty; Burt Reynolds no
less, who collected the Snow Queen Lifetime Cigar
Achievement Award.
Other awards on the evening included:
· James Leavey as Cigar Writer of the Year.
· 1A St James’s Street was awarded The Cigar
Retailer of the Year
· The Garden Room at the Lanesborough Hotel
was awarded Cigar Terrace of the Year
· Habanos SA was awarded Cigar Producer of the
Year
· Arturo Fuente’s Don Carlos Reserva Robusto was
awarded Cigar of the Year

The packed room included a wealth of cigar lovers
including Nancy Dell’Ollio, Marc Sinden, Andrew
Neil, Julian Dicks and the Cuban Ambassador,
Her Excellency, Mrs Teresita de Jesús Vicente
Sotolongo.
Mark Thomson, UK Ambassador for Glenfiddich,
hosted the auction, where lots included rare
whiskies, experiences and cigars.
The guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner of
beautiful ebridean shellfish and Aberdeen Angus
Beef Fillet, which Boisdale is famed for.
After dinner, guests returned to Boisdale’s cigar
terraces to enjoy cigars perfectly paired with the
award winning Glenfiddich 15 and 21 Year Old
Malt Whiskies.
All in all a wonderful evening celebrating all that
is best about the UK Cigar Scene. Make sure you
put a note in your diary and get along to it next
year. It’s up there with the very best of the years
Cigar Events.
