5 years later, after the height of the cigar boom,
Habanos again celebrated the Anniversary of
Cohiba. The 35th Anniversary was marked with
the offer of 500 numbered humidors, each
containing 135 cigars specially banded to mark the
occasion. Each humidor contained 35 Lanceros,
20 Esplendidos, 20 Robustos, 20 Siglo V, 20 Gran
Coronas & 20 Piramides. The latter 2 vitolas
specially created for this celebratory humidor.
At the Habanos Festival 2006 the world was
introduced to the Behike. A series of 100 humidors
with 40 cigars each. At 15,000 Euros, the most
expensive cigar offered in the world. Fittingly the
humidors were specially crafted by Elie Bleu and
created of ebony, bone and manta ray skin. All
the cigars for this humidor were rolled by Norma
Fernandez Sastre, fittingly the roller responsible
for the cigars in the 30th Anniversary humidor
as well. Each cigar carries a second band with an
individual number. Currently this humidor is
one of the more expensive humidors available
in the realm of elite cigar collecting. Is the cigar
worth it? Well to find out for yourself there are a
couple of London cigar lounges that will allow you
the pleasure of smoking one for a mere £5,500.
Yes this cigar was never designed for general
consumption.
So now we fast forward to February 2016.
Obviously the 50th Anniversary of the Cohiba
brand will have to be fetted with something
special. We will get to see the special humidors
containing the Cohiba Majestuosos. The biggest
Cohiba to date with a 58 ring guage. I am excited to
see and taste this cigar. Judging by the humidors
of the past this will become an instant classic and
highly desired cigar. Now to count the days and
start saving pennies. Though my instinct tells me
it will take much more than pennies.
