UK Cigar Scene Magazine August Issue 8 | Page 3

INTRODUCTION It’s been a hugely busy seven months since I launched UK Cigar Scene, we have completed eight great interviews, yes we already have the September interview ‘in the can’ and ready for you. We have sourced some great UK Cigar stories and we have many many more for you in the coming months. We have met some great people and we have worked hard to prove that the UK Cigar Scene is not just about what goes on in London. So after all that hard work, it must be time for a holiday, but not before we have set you up with your holiday reading, and viewing in our August Issue. I am delighted with our video interview with Darren Cioffi, the current Cigar Smoking World Record Holder and World Champion. Until this interview Darren was one of many ‘virtual’ cigar friends of mine who I was delighted to properly meet when he popped over to London for the British qualifying leg earlier in the year. I little thought when we first interviewed Derek Harris that his story of his trip to Nicaragua would still be turning up great follow on stories, but it is. This month we have the first part of a discussion with the very charming Juan Martínez, President of Joya de Nicaragua who visited London as part of the launch of the Joya Red in the UK. I looked at the tape of our interview and found that we had chatted, over cigars naturally, for nearly two hours. I decided that rather than truncate this story we should split the resulting story over two issues. I have to say, that the second part of the story is as compelling as the first but you will have to wait until September for that together with a rather nice surprise conclusion. I hope we will also keep you amused as you sit on the beach or by the pool this holiday time, with some great stories including cigars from both Churchill and Goering which go up for auction this autumn. As we launch just before the ‘Glorious Twelfth’ we have some suggestions for the best selection of cigars to take shooting. The diary is a little on the light side this month as many of the Autumn events have not yet been announced but there are some great new events to look out for. So enjoy the August issue of UK Cigar Scene, wherever you are reading this, I’m finishing off the last few pages from the South of France and as you will see I’ve been enjoying a few cigars while I worked. Enjoy your holidays and your summer cigars! Nic Wing Proprietor and Editor 2
