uick, search “Nate Sestina” on YouTube.
Most of the basketball highlight videos which
show up feature a 6-foot-9 post player operating
with his back to the basket, battling for rebounds,
executing half-hooks, rolling open down low off picks and
fi nding free shooters on the perimeter — none of which
would have been out of place for a man of Sestina’s size in
previous generations.
Don’t miss, though, the feathery long-range touch
Sestina deployed situationally for Bucknell the last four
years. And how about that turnaround fade-away Sestina
launched off one foot from just outside the free-throw line
in a 32-point evisceration of Holy Cross’s post players last
January?
Asked at Kentucky’s media day what former Wildcat
comes to mind by watching Sestina play, John Calipari
provided an answer, but not one that directly addressed
the query.
