Former George Rogers Clark standout Brennan Canada is living a lifelong dream as a member of the Wildcats. “We go in there every day and go as hard as we can.” Kentucky coach John Calipari has enjoyed having Canada in camp and added that “Brennan had opportunities to play other places but wanted to be here and be a part of this.” “Any time we can add a player from our state who can come in and help our program, I’m always for it,” the Kentucky coach said. “Brennan knows what we expect of our walk-ons. We know he will be great teammate and a valuable addition to our team. We are excited to have him join this pro- gram.” Canada helped lead the Cardinals to a 26-8 record and a runner-up fi nish in the 10th Region Tournament. Clark lost to Campbell County in the regional fi nals. He was an All-Region performer last season and averaged 15 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He averaged double fi gures during the last three seasons and scored 1,371 points and grabbed 776 rebounds. Canada’s high school coach, Josh Cook, said his former forward has all the traits needed to succeed at the collegiate level. “He understands the importance of being a leader on the fl oor and in the classroom,” Cook said. “It has been a blessing to be his coach here at GRC. I’m beyond excited for Brennan and his family. I look forward to watching and supporting him in the next several years.” One of Canada’s former teammates and best friends at Clark — Jordan Graham, said Canada is an unselfi sh player. “Brennan is one of my best friends,” Graham said. “The bond we have both on and off the court is very special. I am very proud of him and no one is more deserving of this opportunity.” UK Basketball Preview 2019/2020 | 19
