Primary School Third Edition

Chinese New Year is an important time of celebration often referred to as the “Spring Festival”. Spring is a symbol of regrowth and of new beginnings. It is a time for optimism and it is a family and community occasion.

Our Chinese teachers have introduced us to the customs associated with the lunar festival. Teachers and students learnt how to be balanced by playing 毽子jianzi, 空竹 kongzhu, 投壶touhu, 皮筋pijin, 高跷gaoqiao, 铁环tiehuan and other fascinating traditional games. Students also expressed themselves through traditional Chinese Arts, learning techniques of paint blowing 画梅花, Chinese calligraphy 写对联, creating lanterns 做灯笼 and making delicious Tang Yuan 包汤圆.

On Friday the whole school community joined in our new Multi-Function Hall for a wonderful Chinese New Year Celebration. Musical performers and acrobatic dancers ensured a memorable event for all.
