Throughout UGA’s 17 colleges and schools, sustainability
leadership encompasses all aspects of the triple-bottom
line of social well-being, ecologic integrity and economic
security across the state, nation, and around the globe.
In 2014, UGA achieved a Gold rating from the
Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System
(STARS). This comprehensive evaluation of sustainability
performance in all aspects of higher education is administered by the Association for the Advancement of
Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
UGA is one of 65 colleges and universities across the US
and Canada that has achieved a Gold rating.
The Princeton Review identifies UGA as a “Green College”
with a strong commitment to sustainability in academic
offerings, campus infrastructure, activities, and career
preparation. UGA was named one of the nation’s most
environmentally responsible universities in the country
and has been included on the Green College Honor Roll.
UGA’s A- grade on the Sustainable Endowments Institute
College Sustainability Report Card was among the highest
in the nation, representing best practices in
administration, climate change & energy, food & recycling,
green building, student involvement, transportation,
endowment transparency and investment priorities.
