Integrative Conservation PhD Program The Integrative Conservation (ICON) PhD Program is currently a PhD degree option in four units: Anthropology, Geography, Ecology, and Forestry & Natural Resources. The Center for Integrative Conservation Research (CICR) serves as a facilitator and intellectual home for the program which serves 40 PhD students addressing complex conservation and sustainability challenges using integrative approaches across the social and natural sciences. Since its inception in fall 2011, ICON students have been directly responsible for garnering more than $500K in grants and awards for research, and have begun to impact local communities around the world through the outreach and communication components of their work.
