Our locations Townsville The City Townsville is the major administrative centre of northeastern Australia. Its varied and fast growing economy means that there are many employment opportunities in the city, both for JCU graduates and for students seeking part-time work to help finance their study. The city is also a stepping off point for visiting the Great Barrier Reef – two hours away by boat, and is one hour from the Wet Tropics rainforests of Paluma. The resort regions of Mission Beach and the Whitsunday islands are also within easy reach. The campus is nestled in the residential suburb of Douglas, close to the Ross River, 13 kilometres (8 miles) from the city centre.
