The idea to start fighting as a sport is thousands of years old. It started in Athens as Olympic Games. But 80 years ago in Brazil a great interest was awakened in fighting as a sport as "Vale Tudp" (anything goes) (UFC.COM).
Interestingly, today the UFC has changed some rules to be part of this organization because now several wrestlers learn various martial arts disciplines like Karate, Jiu-gitsu, boxing, kick boxing, wrestling and others (UFC.COM).
In the early days UFC events were very different as a small fighter had to face one larger in physical form. The weight was not important and each fighter could wear traditional clothing as his fighting style, and had no specific time because they wanted the fight to last until there was a winner. But now one fights for a tittle and the fight is be of twenty-five minutes, five rounds of five minutes each. Today there are also different weight categories.
In conclusion, you have seen when the UFC started, who created the fight as a sport, how it changed over the years and what are some disciplines in this organization. If you haven't watched a UFC fight yet, you have to see one because those are very entertaining.
