UCD Artist in Residence UCD College of Arts and Celtic Studies: Artist in Residence IMAGES OF RESEARCH Bloodline is a short film that features one of the world’s highest ranked racehorses of 2013 – Dawn Approach, who has “The Speed Gene”. The film emphasizes the significance of Science Foundation Ireland’s funded research into Thoroughbred horse genomics at University The UCD Science: Artists in Residence is part of the UCD Science: Art in Science programme; an initiative that emerged following a research collaboration between Professor Lorraine Hanlon, UCD School of Physics, and artist Emer O’Boyle. Delivered in partnership with National College Art and Design (NCAD) and Dublin City Council (DCC), the programme is a ten year commitment from the UCD College of Science towards encouraging high quality inter-disciplinary practice and collaborative partnerships between artists and scientistsand providing a platform for enhancing and developing the cultural life of the UCD community. Cultúr Lab was a strategic alignment between University College Dublin and Dublin City Council (DCC), to foster the growth and development of new platforms for knowledge exchange and impact, based on Ireland’s long established heritage in the Arts and Humanities. In association with UCD College of Arts and Celtic Studies, Cultúr Lab initiated the first artist in residence scheme for the humanities in 2014, building on the UCD Science: Artists in Residence. The scheme will enable artists and humanities researchers to collaborate in creating new work in new and innovative ways. 25
