UCC Health Matters Day
9th October 2013
On Wednesday 9th October 2014 UCC Health Matters brought a variety of fun and feel-good activities to the UCC campus. The purpose of the day was to promote the new Health Matter e-calendar and also to highlight the range of work being done in UCC to improve the health and wellbeing of all our staff and students.
The day saw health promoting activities all over campus which worked to to improve staff and student wellbeing. Student vs. staff treadmill relays for charity, an aerobathon in the Amphitheatre, neck, shoulder and Indian head massages, yoga, aerobics, charity buskers, live music and commentary from RedFM and UCC98.3FM as well as free fruit offers just a taste of the activities which were on the menu for the day. Complimentary health checks including BMI stations, blood pressure measurements were made available with expert advice available to anyone wishing to examine their physical health.
Random acts of kindness were one of the more creative events taking place with Occupational Therapy Students handing out free flowers, cards and origami shapes to encourage the community to ‘pay it forward’.
