Host Site Stories

Three of our current host sites want to share their experiences working with AmeriCorps members. On the following pages you will read about the impact that our members brought to each organization and the communities they serve.
All projects must focus on one of program’ s performance measures( below). Each story on the following pages focus on a project from a different performance measure. We hope that these stories give you insight to the diverse programs that UCAmeriCorps supports.
EDUCATION
Deliver educational programs that support the development of mentoring relationships. These relationships will improve youths’ school connectedness, a key element in improving educational outcomes. The service population must be youth with a strong emphasis on those who are economically disadvantaged and in need of additional academic and / or socio-emotional supports.
ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY
Deliver programs that help to strengthen families by improving their economic stability.
HEALTHY FUTURES
Deliver programs to increase health / wellness resources. Projects must specifically address hunger and obesity issues by increasing food resources( including additional stocks of fresh produce), providing nutrition education for adults, and designing and offering fitness activities.
