“ When I started working in the Research Communications Program , I was confident my colleagues and I could provide scientists with tools to help them communicate more effectively ,” says Mario Aguilera ’ 89 , director of communications for the School of Biological Sciences . “ What I didn ’ t expect were the transformational changes that we saw unfold before our eyes .”
“ A perk of being a science communicator is sharing the stories of amazing professors such as Darren Lipomi , who is the kind of role model and advocate that we all need in academia ,” says Liezel Labios , PhD ’ 12 , public information officer for the Jacobs School of Engineering . “ Having experienced my own struggles in grad school , his story and insights still resonate with me after all these years .”
