UBC ASIA Cultural Interchange Program

Welcome Message from Mark

Many thanks to everyone who was able to make it to our Icebreaker.

Welcome to the UBC Asian Studies Interest Association family! My name is Mark Lee, and I would like to implore you all to be as active as you can during your time with our club. Only by doing so can you make the most of the time that lies ahead for build connections and lasting friendships with people who share your interests! It is my sincere hope that by participating in UBC ASIA, you will be able to continually learn from and explore your love of Asian culture while taking many great lessons away from the experience.

Our team is working tirelessly to provide a broad range of activities for our members that include (but are not limited to!) Social events such as the upcoming Fright Nights and Whistler Trip, Academic events such as the ever-popular ProfTea, Career & Development events such as the upcoming Careers Night. Of course, our dedicated Cultural Department is churning out events non-stop as well. The Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian Departments are not mutually exclusive, and if you are anything like myself, you will want to be involved in all of them!

Although this will be my last year as a student with UBC ASIA, it has been a wonderful journey and I will always cherish the relationships I have been a part of. I will try my best to meet as many of you as possible, and I challenge you all to not take this fantastic opportunity to grow as people for granted!

See you soon,

Mark Lee
