Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thank you all for joining us, as we start the first International Unmanned Vehicles, UASUV 2017 Med
Conference organized in Greece. The Conference is under the auspices of the Ministry of National
Defence and it’s great to have an audience from so many different industries and areas of expertise.
We are dealing with a future that is rapidly becoming present.
UAVs provide the capability for you to capture data in a way that will have a tremendous impact on
your business. Applications including imaging, photography, video and film, precision agriculture,
construction and specially in defence, security and public safety. There is a need for concrete synergies
and result-oriented projects to effectively connect Civilian Security and Military Capability
Development. A growing UAV industry has developed globally with a large number of manufacturers,
research groups and governmental and commercial operators now showing the true value UAV / drone
technology can deliver.
Through Keynote addresses and presentations, it is expected that the outcome of the Conference will
be a clear understanding of what industry, military, civilian, national/international authorities need, and
what are the crucial next steps that need to be completed before UAVs are utilized in everyday life
applications. Among them is the framework of the rules for the use of UAVs to match basic human
rights.
This two­day event attracts Government agencies and regulators, Top level international professionals,
Industry manufacturers & suppliers, Quali fied academic & researchers and Senior military personnel
who are here to learn about the application of UAV systems and the way drone technology has the
ability to change the face of conducting operations and doing everyday business worldwide.
With these remarks, I declare this workshop open and wish you all fruitful discussions.
