Commercial UAVs are a leading source for all sorts of digital information. UAV usage is currently related
with transportation and traffic control along with mapping development. It is also applied to
communications and media such as film making and commercial photography. But also new higher-
value applications are on their way, as UAVs have a significant advantage in terms of precision,
convenience, and cost over more traditional solutions such as satellites and helicopters. Drone-
mounted sensors can be used to capture an impressive array of data, paving the way for increased
digitalization of industrial processes.
The development of this sector could prove a big opportunity for the Hellenic Defense Industry, a big
opportunity for Greece. The sooner the companies and the authorities realize its growing potential, the
better will it be for our country. But we have to act now, since, like in many other cases, tomorrow may
be too late.
