HALALAN 2019 Makati CBD Chapter Hosts Miting De Avance for
UAP National Elections
Story by: Ar. Murielle N. Gallardo - Cristobal, UAP, REA, REB, IPREA
Election is a democratic process whereby people get to choose their own officials or
representative(s), which will run the general affairs of their own community. It is the
right and responsibility of each member of society to participate in such a process and
have a say with regards to choosing their leaders.
The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) adheres to this spirit of democracy.
Thus it conducts annual elections, normally done during the National Convention, in
order to install a new set of servants for each turn of a fiscal year.
In line with the UAP National elections, the UAP Makati CBD Chapter held its General
Membership Meeting (GMM) Number 9 last March 26, 2019 at the CW Home Depot,
Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. Titled as “Halalan 2019: A Miting de Avance” the
GMM gathered candidates from the two contending parties in the UAP vying for
national posts as they share their platform and visions for the practice, in front of UAP
Regional District B3 and CBD attendees.
In his opening remarks, CBD Chapter President, Ar. Michael Frederick Z. Lazo,
emphasized the importance and significance of the Miting de Avance. He also reminded
architects to "be proactive, responsible and to get involved.” This was followed by
each of the candidates presenting their platforms for a chance for bigger share of voter
awareness and eventually convince them to favor their side.
Two teams vying for positions were Team AAA Gold and Team UAP which is mostly
made up of incumbent officers.
