QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
A unique cardiovascular leadership( CVL) service line structure was developed in 2011, comprised of the division directors of cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and cardiac anesthesia, along with institutional leaders from nursing, surgery administration, outreach, and hospital administration. The group is charged to optimize quality metrics, identify resource needs, discuss these in the context of other hospital initiatives, and“ fast track” programmatic decisions with institutional leaders, including UAB’ s joint operating leadership( JOL). Leadership of the CVL rotates among the division directors of cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and cardiac anesthesia.
