Teenagers all over the world have dealt with lacking self-esteem and not believing in themselves. There are different stragies teens can use to gain self-esteem . Chuckie, from Tywls of Astoria said that in order for her to gain self-confidence she tells herself every morning that she is beautiful and that she doesn’t care what other people have to say about her. Having a way to gain self-esteem is essential to have good health and to preventing future health problems such as depression, suicide, anxiety, and insomnia.
There are goals that people could set for themselves in order to gain self-esteem. One goal that a person could set for is to accept one flaw that they see in themselves. This goal worked for Mashia a senior in Tywls of Astoria, “Accepting my flaws has helped me to accept who I am.” Another goal that you should set for yourself is that you should have a positive attitude towards yourself as soon as they wake up. As Amanda said, “I wake up every morning and tell myself that I'm beautiful to have confidence.” Being able to set goals for oneself is a step towards raising self-esteem.
