SKIN CARE LAUREN AND KATHY.. THIS PAGE AND NEXT
Our body is 96.4% skin. It is one of our most important features but sometimes we are not so caring of it. But there are ways to keep your skin healthy and prevent wrinkles at the
same time!
1. I know summer is a great time for
tanning and many of us LOVE to tan!
When we’re young we don’t worry
much about how the sun may affect
our skin over time. But did you know
that you actually are accelerating
the aging process? Tanning causes
wrinkles at an early age, which is
why you must wear sunscreen when
you’re going to the beach or just in
general when going out.
2. Aren’t steamy showers great?
Well I hate to break it to you but
you might want to skip the long
steamy showers and go for a shorter
and cooler shower. Did you know
that long showers strip skin of it’s
moisture and wash away protective
oils. That’s why you should try to
limit your showers to 10 minutes and
use cool water.
3. Have you put on lotion lately? No?
Well you might want to start. You
may not know it but your skin is
begging for moisture and exfoliation. You may have not noticed but your skin may be really dry. If you scratch a small area on your arm or leg with your fingernail then it may leave a white mark on your skin. That is a big sign that your skin needs moisture.
4. Our face is important to be kept clean but your neck and upper chest is important to be cleaned as well. Your neck and upper chest are covered in sensitive skin. This makes it a prime spot to dectect aging signs such as dryness, sun spots and wrinkles. To keep this area youthful, use facial cleansing creams that hydrate and cleanse gently rather than deodorant soaps, which can be drying. Top it all off with a good facial moisturizing cream. If this area is extra dry, use a facial moisturizing mask twice a month.
Skin Care: Is Your Skin Really Healthy?
5. Remember to ALWAYS switch moisturizers every time the seasons change. Your skin needs more moisture in the winter than in the summer. So the same day you bring those sweaters down from the attic for the winter, buy a heavier moisturizer. When you trade in the sweaters for shorts, switch to a lighter one.
6. Now here's the most important one! Avoid these three skin destroyers: Smoking, tanning salons and sunbathing. All three will age your skin prematurely!
As you can see, early aging is avoidable. The problem is that sometimes we are not aware that the things we do is affecting our skin in so many ways. Remember to check up on your skin from time to time.
