In 1908 the Western Maryland Railway Company replaced two wooden depots in the Elkins ’ railyard with the current brick structure which houses the Elkins Depot Welcome Center CVB . The Welcome Center , the central location for tourist information , began serving the public in 2006 . The volunteers at the Welcome Center are eager to help assist you for any travel needs . They have a variety of information on activities in the area such as train excursions , museums , historic sites , theaters , outdoor adventures , rail trail guides , state parks , the Monongahela National Forest , dining , and shopping .
