The Crossing Coffee Bar , located inside The Delmonte Market , brews fresh locally roasted coffee and also serves lunch and locally made ice cream . Start your morning with a visit to Byrd ’ s House of Donuts or Guilty Pleasures Sweet Shop for housemade donuts and pastries . Love craft beer ? The award-winning Big Timber Brewing Company recently underwent a $ 2 million expansion of its downtown taproom and brewery , adding a beer garden overlooking the Tygart River and transforming itself into a destination in its own right .

Elkins has a plethora of activities for visitors of all ages and interests . As a thriving artists ’ community , the cultural offerings and
enrichment opportunities are unparalleled for a town its size . The crowning cultural gem of Elkins is the Augusta Heritage Center which provides intensive workshops throughout the year bringing together master artists , musicians , dancers , and craftspeople of all ages . Fun fact - some of Augusta ’ s first classes were held in the hotel in the 1970s . Music lovers are sure to be impressed with the range of live music events taking place throughout the week at several downtown venues . For an educational experience , try the Appalachian Forest Discovery Center and the West Virginia Railroad Museum both located within the Darden Mill just blocks from the hotel . Also located in downtown is the Old Brick Playhouse which focuses on hands-on theater experiences for youth . The theater puts on shows throughout the year . Davis & Elkins College also has a large performance arts program and will host theatre productions throughout each semester . The Randolph County Community Arts Center
is a beautiful and functional space for rotating exhibits , lecture series , and art classes . While strolling through the quaint downtown , visitors can enjoy the scattered art murals or enjoy the extensive park system for picnics , walks , fishing , or just a little peace and quiet . Davis Street Park , Elkins City Park , Glendale Park and River Bend Park all feature children ’ s play equipment .
