tyddynmon.co.uk Garden Progress The recent good weather has meant that significant progress has been made by the gardening team in the farm gardens in the last few weeks. A new area for plants and vegetables has been created by fencing and cultivating an area of the field, as well as new flower beds which have replaced the old raised beds. The team have also been busy planting flowers in pots and hanging baskets around the farm, bringing some much needed colour to the area. Meirionfa Helps Out At the beginning of December all the tenants discussed with the staff how we could help those less fortunate than us at Christmas. We were prompted to do this by Joe donating his old games consoles and games to the children’s ward at the local hospital. After several options were discussed all agreed that donating to the local food banks was the best idea. With staff support we researched the work food banks do in our community and the reason why they exist. We also researched suitable foods to donate, nothing perishable but dry food and canned goods were suitable. Working from this we compiled a shopping list and we agreed to donate £10 each to buy the food. With staff support we went to Asda in Llangefni and bought a trolley full of food to donate to the food bank. The supervisor we spoke to in Asda, Anita said she was very touched by what we had done and we would get a letter to say thank you from the local food bank. Hopefully families who are struggling in our community will have had a happier Christmas as a result of our donations. Joe, Mickey, Mark, Lucy and Glenys. Tyddyn Môn Newsletter 9 Issue 6 - 2016
