Tyddyn Môn Open Day
On the 31st March we held our first ever open day
giving members of the public, stakeholders, providers
and service users the opportunity to see the new
developments on our farm and the range of activities
we can offer those with a learning disability. The open
day was the culmination of a grant awarded to us as
part of the Intermediate Care Fund which enabled us
to host a number of new and exciting activities, all of
which were showcased on the day including Samba
drumming, Zumba dancing, music therapy, jewellery
making, mosaics, fitness, orienteering and more. The
highlight of the day was the ‘Great Tyddyn Môn Cook
Off Competition’ with three teams, one from the farm,
one from our houses in Menai Bridge and one from
the Holyhead houses, going head to head against
each other in a cooking competition.
The challenge was to prepare a 2 course meal for 5
people for a celebratory birthday dinner. All three
teams rose to the occasion creating restaurant quality
meals, which showed the hours of preparation and
planning that had been put in by everyone. The
competition was judged by Rhun ap Iorwerth the
Assembly member for Anglesey, Barbara Williams
from Anglesey County Council’s Social Services
department, Amanda Lynch of the Woburn Hotel and
Bethan Jukes from Medrwn Môn all of whom had the
difficult job of choosing the winner. After much
deliberation the winner was chosen as the team from
Holyhead, with their lamb dish with locally sourced
meat winning over the judges.
