Specially designed projects for secondary school and university students! build with Habitat for Humanity Every year, hundreds of volunteers travel overseas with Habitat for Humanity Ireland to build homes and hope alongside families and communities in need of decent housing. Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Ireland offers secondary school and university students the chance to join together with volunteers from all walks of life. Days are filled on an active construction site in either Zambia or Romania, working with the team of volunteers, and the future homeowners. The teams’ combined efforts help Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their family. Here, a few of these volunteers share the highlights of their experience... Volunteers will have the opportunity to spend 1-2 weeks building safe and decent homes alongside families in need. If you are interested in applying, email [email protected] or call 01 531 0033. “We can only describe our experience as joyous – a joyous occasion whereby we came together with the local staff and volunteers to build foundations for a more vibrant and cohesive community.” - Anna, Open Youth Build, Romania. “We may have made a great impact on the lives of the people in Zambia but, more importantly, they made an even bigger impact on our lives.” - Sarah, Open Third Level Student Build, Zambia. “The most valuable moment of the trip was at the home dedication ceremony, when we presented the family with the keys to the home we helped build. We all danced together in celebration.” - David, Gonzaga College Build, Zambia.
