Jiang with the TYi team at TY EXPO 2017 Jiang’s selection as our Ambassador was roundly celebrated by our volunteer team, as she had already proven her resourcefulness and dedication as a volunteer at TY EXPO 2017 in Punchestown in September.. ! Jiang is from Bandon in West Cork and was so determined to volunteer at the event that she arranged transport and accommodation to be there for the two full days. ! We are delighted to have a have a young lady be selected as this year’s Ambassador. Many organisations can attest to the fact that girls tend not to put themselves forward for selection in competitions. ! We are looking forward to a fantastic year together. If you would like Jiang to participate in your programmes, competitions, lectures etc - please do not hesitate to contact us. So, how’s it going, Jiang…? I can't believe I’m four months into Transition Year already…! And the four months have been action packed. ! The highlight though was definitely being appointed TYI Ambassador. ! I have joined the Cork County Comhairle na nÓg Youth Council and am enjoying making new friends and helping the youth of Cork. I've been zip- lining at Farran Woods with my classmates which was great fun and a great bonding experience (but I must go back and try that red course…) ! I was selected to participate in a women in technology course (at Johnson Controls) which is ironically all taught by men. ! This year I have had the opportunity to do voluntary work with SVP which has been very rewarding and I can't wait to continue into the new year (and longer). ! I’m looking forward to the Critical Thinking workshop we’re planning for January with TYI and my school. ! I’ll also be attending a UNICEF workshop and I’m currently busy planning my 1st work experience week for 2018. WWW.T YIRELAND.COM
