Shopping for your wedding gown shouldn’t be a chore, it should be fun! Selecting the perfect gown for
your dream day, may feel overwhelming, but this is something I know...your dream dress is out there
waiting for you!
The number one question asked of wedding consultants is, “What type of dress will be the most flattering
for my figure?" Lets get one thing out of the way first…wedding gowns run one or two sizes larger than
your ready-to-wear size from department stores.
Knowing the basic dress silhouettes and body types, along with understanding how they flatter your
figure, will help you in choosing the perfect dress.

Hips and shoulders basically are the same width
with a defined waistline.
Your shoulders, waist, and hips are pretty much
in line. Sometimes referred to “straight up and
down.”
Dress Silhouette: Fortunately just about any
silhouette will work for you, but the most flattering is
trumpet or mermaid. A ball gown works well too.

Dress Silhouette: An empire or a-line gown will add
curves to your straight shape. A belted sheath can
be nice as well.
Round
Sometimes referred to as “apple.” Bust, waist, hips
are the same full figure shape.
Dress Silhouette: A soft a-line that cinches in at the
smallest point of the waistline, then has a gradual
flare to an A shape skirt. A bodice with a lot of
texture, as in ruche or lace, will camouflage and fit
snug.
